TIPS AND TRICKS FOR IRL LIVE STREAMERS IN 2025

I am writing this article to collect some information on live streaming and provide resources for new live streamers to get set up on their first IRL live stream.

The purpose of this article is to update it over time and improve it, so we must begin with a starting point. Here we go!!!

Check out the NOTES FOR STREAMERS section of the website for more articles on tips and tricks for live streamers to get started!

Some of this might be a recap summary from previous articles, and some might be new stuff not covered yet.

Welcome to the broadcast!!!

STREAMER PHONE SETUP FOR IRL

Streamer suggestion numba wan: get an android phone if you can.

For live streaming capabilities and all the features you need, the iPhone is generally going to be less compatible, yet it is still possible to stream on an iPhone if that is your only option.

If you are using an iPhone, check out the Moblin APP.

If you are on an android phone, I highly recommend IRL PRO APP.

You can also use Prizm App or StreamLabs App, but I prefer IRL PRO.

HOW TO GO START AN IRL LIVE STREAM

The main platforms are Kick, YouTube, Rumble, Parti, and Twitch. Each of the platforms will give you a stream url and stream key, the stream url is the link that you will be sending your stream live feed to in real-time, and the stream key is essentially the password to authorize your connection.

If you have difficulty starting your stream and connecting to your live stream platform of choice, make sure that you double check the stream url and stream key in your streaming app.

The live feed ideally will be at 1080p stream quality which is 1920×1080 pixels screen resolution, so in the video settings make sure you try this first. If you have any signal drops on your stream and you notice any connection issues, there is a chance your wifi and internet data signal is not strong enough, and in that instance you can drop to 720p which is 1280×720 pixels.

If you are streaming at 1080p resolution, 3k bitrate should be more than sufficient, ideally if your internet speed can support more that’s great.

If you are streaming at 720p resolution, you can have somewhere around a 1k or 2k bitrate speed and it will still be sufficient.

If your live streaming upload data speeds are only reaching 2kbps aka 2k bitrate, chances are, you will see better video quality results if you are streaming at 720p rather than trying to do 1080p with compromised connection speeds. Yes, that is correct, you will have better video quality on 720p in weak signal streaming areas, so if you need to use it, go ahead and try it!

If you are using the IRL PRO APP, you can also explore the in-between screen resolution quality of 1792×1008 pixels, which will offer a balance of stream quality to the video while not having such high demands on data speed to stream it.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR WIDGETS FOR INTERACTIVE FEATURES AND DONATIONS AND NEW FOLLOWER ALERTS AND ANY TYPE OF CHANNEL ACTIVITY YOU WANT TO PROMOTE

Once you get your stream working, the next thing to add is the interactive features.

If people follow your channel, subscribe to your channel, donate/tip, send chat messages or emotes, all of these things can be interactive and display on your IRL live stream!

These services also allow configuration of stream commands, so for example if you type in !merch, the chat bot could send a message to your chat feed that is the link to your merch store website.

Check out these apps for live stream features on your Kick live stream:

For donations/tips on all streaming sites, check out:

Stream Labs and Stream Elements are both services that accept viewer tips and donations, and those interactions can display immediately on the screen when a new donation is received. For the most part, you will just need to pick one or the other. If you are not sure which one, I suggest just viewing a few streamers and seeing what tipping page you like more, since I think both platforms essentially have the same features for this purpose.

If you want to use StreamLabs it also has an entire streaming platform app made around it, so it’s kind of more of an all-in-one solution if you also want to do desktop streams at the computer rather than live streams just on your mobile phone. I do not recommend StreamLabs for this purpose though, I prefer to use OBS Software for desktop streaming.

Within StreamElements and StreamLabs you will be able to configure your stream overlays, or sometimes they are called stream widgets. These overlays and widgets are the alerts that appear on stream, and can be customized in great detail.

Additionally, there are some other sites that allow interactive donations, they are PowerChat and LiveBeam. If you do not need the interactive alerts there is also the option to use CashApp, Venmo, or PayPal directly, and then just thank your viewers if you receive anything, but it wont alert directly on the stream.

The additional features of these tipping and donation platforms, is how they are geared to live streamers for the interactive features, so you can even customize a unique alert for different increments of money. For example, if you get a $100 donation it could trigger a different stream alert than a $20 or a $5 donation!

Along with the customizable widgets in the stream overlays and alerts for these platforms, they also accept media donations, which means the user can send something along with a media song, so they can send a YouTube link an it will play the song through the streamer’s bluetooth speaker. The ability to send songs to the streamer can help the Chat interact with the show and increase engagement.

Text-To-Speech, which is also known as TTS, can be configured through these platforms too. That means that if you want the chat feed messages to be read out loud through your speaker, you can configure the TTS to be free for all chat users, or possibly restricted to your subscribers or moderators Chat Users with a badge. If you are outside with it, and can’t read your phone, this can be a useful tool having the chat messages read out loud.

THE RECIPE FOR SUCCESS IN IRL LIVE STREAMING

  • Go Live (The Pigeon recommends Kick or YouTube)
  • Build your community, and post to social media to promote your stream
  • Collab with other live streamers and get connected
  • Make sure your stream does not f (lower your bitrate or stream quality to 720p if there are any issues)
  • Make sure you have good audio quality (get a bluetooth mic if needed)
  • Be ready to accept donations/tips/subscriptions
  • Engage with your audience, respond to Chat and interact! If you cannot read the chat, consider free TTS or sub-only TTS to read the messages out loud.
  • Keep going live and keep building on your story and growing your community, understanding that the Chat is a reflection of the streamer, you are in control of your own narrative and the main theme of of your show and the future success or failure of your image. Do not feed in to negative energy and do not do anything on the live stream that you wouldn’t do without the camera on or without getting paid for it, the potential to get paid, or even the potential to get noticed. The second you navigate down that path, you begin going live not for yourself but to satisfy the expectations of others. Do not create a situation that you are not going to be proud of. You have the power to create your own future!!!!! BRRRRR
  • Let me know that you live stream so we can support you and tune in to the broadcasts on LSTV!!!!!
